John is a designer and writer who’s worked on consumer, enterprise, and medical software products. As part of the team who redesigned YouTube in 2011, John led design for YouTube Channels. He also helped create FeedBurner, which Google acquired in 2007. Following the acquisition, John led design for Google’s ad agency products.
At GV, John helps startups use design to be more successful. He’s worked with over 50 companies, including Pocket, Blue Bottle Coffee, RetailMeNot, and Foundation Medicine. John is also GV’s in-house copywriter and content editor — he makes sure the team routinely produces high-quality, entrepreneur-focused content.
Previously, John ran a small design agency, designed a daily newspaper, and taught sailing. He studied journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He lives in San Francisco with his wife and two crazy cats.
