Shernaz brings years of experience and a proven track record in building brands and consumer perception; scaling operational teams; and developing global businesses to take companies to the next level in mindshare and accelerate growth.
Over her career she has worked with companies in the areas of consumer, retail, education, life sciences, commerce, cloud, mobile, virtual reality and enterprise computing. Some of them include Netflix, Walmart, Motorola, Baidu, Polyvore (Yahoo), Khan Academy, Zynga, Groupon, Kosmix, Guardant Health, Savvis (CenturyLink), Target and Baobab Studios. She serves as a senior advisor to Kitty Hawk, 10x Genomics, and Voyage.
Shernaz was the Global Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for Udacity. Under her leadership, the company’s user base increased 5x; revenue over 150% year over year; and partnerships by more than 15x to make Udacity a powerful brand. She was instrumental in changing the company’s business direction from the MOOC space into the lifelong learning area, propelling its growth and industry stature.
Previously, Shernaz served as the first and only chief marketing officer and head of investor relations at Inktomi, a post she held for six years. Under her leadership, Inktomi became one of the hottest Internet names reaching a $37 billion valuation, and received numerous media and Wall Street accolades. Shernaz started her career at Sun Microsystems where she built a brand name for Solaris, the Sun operating system, and spearheaded the company’s European software initiatives from Paris.
Shernaz completed her undergraduate work at Stanford University graduating Phi Beta Kappa, and her master’s work at Harvard University.
